I attened your workshop at NYSCATE and enjoyed it. I am passing this onto our Art Teacher. It is interesting that you did this project with 1st graders as in our school the 6th graders do Cave Art as part of their Social Studies curriculum.

I am collecting examples of how educators are using Voicethread in their classroom or for professional development on a wiki at: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/

My plan is to share these examples with other technology teachers who provide professional development in their schools.

Feel free to add your own examples or links to resources. Thanks in advance,
Colette Cassinelli

A fresh comment for an old post......
What with one thing and another going on in your district life Jamie, I'm sure you've got a little backlog going. I'd love to hear about some of the recent projects like voice thread and photostory. Those are only two of the many things I know you've helped to launch recently. I've noticed there is a frustrating wait time between the introduction of new technologies and their appropriate applications for the classroom. The really fun stuff is all the R&D experimenting that goes on behind all our closed doors.

I believe that blogging is the way to go. Our 8th grade students here in the Middle school have started blogging in English class and they simply love it. Yes, there was a couple of minor problems, but nothing big. I soon would like to try something with my two six grade classes and see how it would work at this level. I truly believe that we must put our fears behind us and look towards what is best for preparing our students to face the world of technology. It's their world also!!

Lots of thoughts to peruse when I have more time. I loved the Tangram site. I've wanted to do this as a mini lesson in my classroom, but now, even without a SMART board, I can take my students to the lab and let them work in teams. Can you print out various solutions students may find? That would be very cool!

I need one. what could be better than a whiteboard that can store the information on the computer, and display information projected on it? This could be the ultimate weapon for brainstorming!

Podcasts have become the new big thing. But I still have my reservations (I'm the last person without a personal media device). Whatever happened to reading? I'd rather read my news than have it read to me.

Podcasting is great for serialized stuff- like NPR stories and that kind of stuff. So there will be a prominent future for the concept. But hopefully they won't replace good text!
